tl;dr
- In this project I used oak, however I think walnut will work better if you can get that in your
area
- Cut 20 wood slats to size, 10 front, 10 top
- Sand wood with 220 grit sand paper
- Prepare wood with minwax pre-stain wood conditioner
- Stain wood with minwax poly satin mission oak. Make sure to wipe of excess stain to avoid blotches.
- Let the stain dry for at least 6 hours
- Sand wood with 000 steel wool (or finer 0000)
- Apply another coat of stain wood with minwax poly satin mission oak. Make sure to wipe of excess stain to avoid blotches.
- You can apply another layer of stain if neccesary but at this stage the slats should be ready for assembly.
Other parts
- Pan head 4x3/8 screws to secure the wood slats and a countersunk 4x3/8 screw to secure the magnets.
- These 20x10 magnets from Aliexpress
